Ben is a trial attorney devoted entirely to representing Plaintiffs in a variety of legal areas including catastrophic personal injuries, employment matters, medical malpractice, business disputes and defective products. He has recovered numerous six- and seven-figure verdicts and settlements on behalf of his clients who have suffered from the wrongdoing of others. Ben believes strongly in giving his clients the personal attention necessary to achieve the justice they deserve.
In 2016, Ben was named a “Rising Star” by SuperLawyers. He has been named to the San Diego Business Journal’s “Best of the Bar” list each of the last two years. In 2014, he received the “Outstanding Trial Lawyer Award” from the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego. In 2013, he was named one of San Diego’s Top 10 Personal Injury Attorneys by the San Diego Daily Transcript. He was also named one of San Diego’s Top Young Attorneys that same year. He is also a 2016 graduate of the ABOTA National Trial Academy held at Harvard Law School and a 2013 graduate of the ABA/TIPS National Trial Academy held at the National Judicial College.
Ben is a faculty member/instructor for the National Institute of Trial Advocacy (NITA). He teaches in the San Diego Trial Skills Program and the Pacific Region Deposition Skills and Deposing the Expert Witness Programs. He is also the editor of the Tort Law section of the Trial Bar News.
Before pursuing a career in law, Ben spent four years in the media relations department of the San Diego Padres. He also clerked for former San Diego Padres Vice President/General Counsel Katie Pothier. Ben earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of San Diego’s School of Law and his Bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.
Ben and his wife Kathleen believe strongly in giving back to their hometown of San Diego. They regularly volunteer for a number of local San Diego organizations including I Love a Clean San Diego, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Susan G. Komen, and Hand-to-Hand Coastal Community Foundation. In addition, Ben is currently the Vice President of the Board of Directors of the San Diego Brain Injury Foundation. He also sits on the Board of Directors of the University of San Diego Law School Alumni Association. Ben and Kathleen are lifelong fans of all San Diego sports teams – especially the San Diego Padres, where they met as coworkers in 2008.
