Senior Trial Attorney

Ben is a trial attorney devoted entirely to representing Plaintiffs in a variety of legal areas including catastrophic personal injuries, employment matters, medical malpractice, business disputes and defective products. Ben believes strongly in giving his clients the personal attention necessary to achieve the justice they deserve.

Ben is the Chairperson of the firm’s Brain Injury Practice Group. He is the sitting Vice President of the San Diego Brain Injury Foundation, where he has been a member of the Board of Directors for the last four years. Ben is regularly invited to speak to lawyers, survivors and physicians about the implications of brain injuries on survivors and their families, and how to present their cases. He is a co-author/editor of the Journey Toward Recovery: A Brain Injury Guide for Survivors.

Ben is a faculty member/instructor for the National Institute of Trial Advocacy (NITA) where he teaches young lawyers in the Trial Skills Program and Deposition Skills Programs. He is also Member of the Board of Directors of the University of San Diego Law School Alumni Association. He is currently the editor of the Tort Law section of the Trial Bar News, published by the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego. In addition, he has been published numerous times in a variety of different legal publications.

Ben was named a “Rising Star” by SuperLawyers for both 2016 and 2017. He has been named to the San Diego Business Journal’s “Best of the Bar” list in 2014 and 2015. In 2014, he received the “Outstanding Trial Lawyer Award” from the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego. In 2013, he was named one of San Diego’s Top 10 Personal Injury Attorneys by the San Diego Daily Transcript. He was also named one of San Diego’s Top Young Attorneys that same year. He is also a 2016 graduate of the prestigious ABOTA National Trial College held at Harvard Law School.

Before pursuing a career in law, Ben spent four years in the media relations department of the San Diego Padres. He also clerked for former San Diego Padres Vice President/General Counsel Katie Pothier. Ben earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of San Diego’s School of Law and his Bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.

Ben and his wife Kathleen believe strongly in giving back to their hometown of San Diego. They regularly volunteer for a number of local San Diego organizations including I Love a Clean San Diego, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Susan G. Komen, and Hand-to-Hand Coastal Community Foundation. Ben and Kathleen are lifelong fans of all San Diego sports teams – especially the San Diego Padres, where they met as coworkers in 2008.
