Ben is a trial attorney devoted entirely to representing individuals who have suffered catastrophic personal injuries. He has worked extensively on cases involving traumatic brain injuries, spinal injuries, and wrongful deaths as a result of automobile accidents, defective products and dangerous premises. Ben believes strongly in giving his clients the personal attention necessary to achieve the justice they deserve.

In 2014, Ben was honored by the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego with an “Outstanding Trial Lawyer Award.” He was also named to San Diego Business Journal’s “Best of the Bar” list. In 2013, Ben was named one of the Top 10 Personal Injury Attorneys in San Diego by the San Diego Daily Transcript. He was also named one of San Diego County’s “Top Young Attorneys” by the same publication. Ben was selected in 2013 to attend the prestigious TIPS/ABOTA National Trial Academy, where he received top marks in scoring for both his cross-examination and closing argument by the Honorable Janet Berry of the Second Judicial District Court.

Prior to joining Gomez Trial Attorneys, Ben clerked for criminal defense attorneys Robert and Dana Grimes. He also interned for former San Diego Padres Vice President/General Counsel Katie Pothier.

Ben earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of San Diego’s School of Law. During law school, he focused on trial practice, competing on the University of San Diego’s National Mock Trial Team. Additionally, Ben was a teaching assistant for the lawyering skills program, after being named best overall advocate in his first year legal writing and research class.

Before pursuing a career in law, Ben spent four years in the media relations department of the San Diego Padres, focusing on team publications, player and team public relations, and media relationships. Ben has also worked in public relations and marketing for Beaman Public Relations in Chicago and the Chicago Bears. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.

Ben and his wife Kathleen believe strongly in giving back to their hometown of San Diego. Ben is  a member of the Board of Directors of the San Diego Brain Injury Foundation. Kathleen is a volunteer Wish Grantor for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of San Diego. Ben and Kathleen are lifelong fans of all San Diego sports teams – especially the San Diego Padres, where they met as coworkers in 2008.
