Jamie Ritterbeck is a trial lawyer at Gomez Trial Attorneys and specializes in litigating catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death cases. Ritterbeck goes above and beyond for her clients and brings her attention to detail, competitive spirit, and compassion to each case. She has developed an intimate knowledge of the trucking industry and is not afraid to take on the largest of companies or most difficult cases.
Passionate about pro bono service, Ritterbeck has made a significant difference in the lives of others through her pro bono work on immigration matters. Perhaps most significantly, she represented a boy from Guatemala who fled his country due to years of unspeakable violence. She was able to help her client obtain political asylum, a life changing result that is not easily granted. Ritterbeck continues to provide pro bono representation in immigration matters. She also serves on the Alumni Board at the University of San Diego School of Law.
Ritterbeck was selected to the 2021 Best Lawyers in America© “Ones to Watch” list, recognizing lawyers who have been in private practice between five and ten years. This award highlights the most promising lawyers in the country. In 2020, Ritterbeck was named as one of San Diego Daily Transcript’s Top 40 Under 40, and in 2019, she received the San Diego Metro Magazine 40 Under 40 Award. Ritterbeck also received the Casa Cornelia Law Center Pro Bono Publico Award and the State Bar of California Wiley W. Manuel Certificate for Pro Bono Legal Services.
Ritterbeck earned her law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law and her undergraduate degree from Florida State University. While in law school, Ritterbeck interned at the University of San Diego School of Law’s Appellate Clinic, where she successfully represented her client before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Board of Immigration Appeals, resulting in her client’s release from federal custody. As a result of her superior work and 100 plus hours of pro bono legal services, Ritterbeck was honored as the Outstanding Clinic Intern and bestowed with the University of San Diego School of Law Certificate of Merit. She also received the CALI Award for excellence in Contracts and Legal Writing. Ritterbeck served as a Judicial Extern for the Honorable Nita L. Stormes of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California, as well as a Judicial Extern for the San Diego Superior Court criminal judges.
