
Mark Skeels
Trial Attorney
Mark Skeels has 23 years of trial experience serving the community in his role as a Senior Chief Deputy City Attorney for the city of San Diego and Deputy District Attorney for the county of San Diego. Mark served as Chief of the Special Prosecutions Unit where he reviewed all cases involving fatal traffic collisions and successfully prosecuted offenders for vehicular manslaughter. As a Deputy District Attorney, Mark specialized in cases involving sexual assault and child molestation while assigned to the Sex Crimes Unit. Mark also tried civil cases for offenders classified as Sexually Violent Predators. At Gomez Trial Attorneys, Mark applies this experience developed during two decades of jury trials to the aggressive representation of clients injured in traffic collisions and victimized in sexual assaults.
Prior to joining the San Diego City Attorney’s Office, Mark served as General Counsel for a professional baseball team, drawing on his experience as a former professional baseball player with the Florida Marlins. Mark joined his alma mater as an adjunct professor at the University of San Diego School of Law where he taught trial advocacy to students with the nationally recognized mock trial team. Mark began his undergraduate studies at Harvard University and later graduated from Stanford University. Mark played in the College World Series as a member of the Stanford baseball team before playing professionally.
Mark currently serves on the
- Advisory Board for Mothers Against Drunk Driving, a continuation of the public service and dedication he has shown to victims of catastrophic traffic collisions.
Mark is blessed with a great family and three outstanding children.
