United Natural Trading LLC has announced the recall, as the company produced the pre-packaged products at issue. These walnuts are sold at retailers under brand names that include:
- Nature’s Promise
- Woodstock
- Woodfield Farms
- Market Basket
The walnuts were originally purchased from Gibson Farms. Fortunately, this listeria recall is seen as a precautionary measure because as of now, no one has yet become ill as a result of eating these walnuts. The recall was initiated after a single sample of walnuts produced a positive result for listeria monocytogenes. Hopefully that remains the case, but consumers need to take heed and make sure that they are not exposing themselves or their children to these harmful bacteria. Listeria is a genus of bacteria that contains 10 different species.
