The 5 Deadliest Cities for Riverside County Car Accidents

RiversideCountyCarAccidents

When people think of traffic in California, they tend to think of crowded freeways in Los Angeles, San Francisco and perhaps San Diego.  Those who live in California and who have driven across the state understand that there are other areas that involve heavy traffic, high speeds and a large amount of risk.  One of those areas is Riverside County in Southern California.  As such, the number of Riverside County car accidents that occur every year is quite high.  Below you’ll find the 5 deadliest cities for car accidents in Riverside County along with some ideas to keep in mind when driving in that area that may help you avoid being involved in a collision.

Fatal Riverside County Car Accidents – 5 Most Dangerous Cities

The California Office of Traffic Safety, or OTS, keeps and publishes statistics regarding California car accidents.  The most recent data available for a full year is 2013.  According to that data, a link to which can be found here, the five most dangerous cities for fatal Riverside County car accidents, in order, are as follows:

  1. Riverside
  2. Moreno Valley
  3. Jurupa Valley
  4. Cathedral City
  5. Temecula/Corona

The OTS data also shows that overall, more than 6,100 car accidents in Riverside County led to either one fatality or one injury in 2013.  That equates to more than 16 car accidents every day somewhere in the county where at least one person was injured or killed.

Avoiding Serious Riverside County Car Accidents

It’s common for travelers on the freeways in particular in Riverside County to be traveling to or from such places as Palm Springs, Los Angeles, San Diego or Phoenix.  That means that many motorists are passing through the area and they are trying to get to where they are going as quickly as possible.  This leads to a lot of mistakes behind the wheel.  If you find yourself driving through Riverside County, you may want to keep the following ideas in mind so that you do not become part of this body of data.

  1. Take Your Time – Interstate 10 is particularly notorious for people driving at high speeds.  Resist this temptation and take your time driving.  Shaving 10 – 15 minutes off of your drive is not worth risking your life.
  2. Keep Your Distance – The roads in Riverside County often become as congested as other roads in California with heavy traffic.  When this occurs, make sure you provide yourself an adequate following distance, as that extra split second can make all the difference.
  3. Avoid Distractions – While this idea is hardly limited to Riverside County, all drivers should do what’s necessary to avoid distractions.  Specifically, motorists should stay off of their phones and avoid manipulating navigation systems while on the road.
