According to the California Highway Patrol, tire tread separation is being blamed for the single rollover traffic crash that occurred on May 13th on Orchard Road south of Heber Road.
A 62-year-old woman was heading north on Orchard Road in her single cab Ford pickup truck when the tread of her right rear tire separated. The tire tread separation caused the motorist to lose control of the vehicle and roll across the center median at least once before landing on the shoulder of the southbound side of the road. The woman’s truck was on its side when firefighters arrived on scene. Firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life device as the woman was trapped inside the vehicle.
The woman was taken to El Centro Regional Medical Center for treatment for her injuries.
